We inspire spectacular growth in people and communities through educational conservation programs, and we account for every detail down to the seeds. Because we know that with the right tools and education, a seed can grow from the soil to the stars. Together, we green our planet.
What We Do
At Green Our Planet, we know every big idea, big movement, big change starts with a single small seed. From an accidental school garden program in Las Vegas, we bloomed into a national non-profit organization, dedicated to igniting curiosity, creating connections to the natural world and positively impacting the futures of kids, communities and the globe.
We now run the largest and one of the most comprehensive STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) school garden and hydroponics programs in the United States. Did we mention we also run the only STEMworks-accredited school garden and hydroponics programs in the U.S.?
Our mission is to increase student academic performance in STEM subjects as well as to conserve and protect the environment through project-based STEM education, which includes nutrition, financial literacy and conservation education in PreK-12 schools.
Outdoor Garden Classroom Program
Green Our Planet launched its Outdoor Garden Classroom STEM Program in Las Vegas, Nevada in January 2013. The Outdoor Garden STEM Program helps public and private schools build outdoor school gardens and implements comprehensive programming so that students can learn a variety of subjects including STEM, nutrition, and conservation.
Hydroponics Program
Green Our Planet launched Nevada’s first school hydroponics STEM program in 2017. Currently, we operate the program in more than 200 schools across the country. The program includes 19 countertop units and 1 commercial unit to use for K-12th grades. The largest system is 4 feet long by 4 feet high and can grow more than 200 plants at a time, producing over 200 lbs of fruits and vegetables per year.
Virtual Academy
The Green Our Planet Virtual Academy launched in 2020. Teachers and students can enter the academy and watch curriculum-based video lessons created by our farmers, hydroponics experts, and chef nutritionists broken up by grade level and subject matter. The video lessons include NGSS standards and assessments that help make the task of teaching students STEM, nutrition and conservation subjects both engaging and fun!
