From all of us at Green Our Planet and the students and teachers at George E. Harris Elementary, Richard J. Rundle Elementary, Robert L. Forbuss Elementary and M.J. Christensen Elementary, thank you Whole Foods Market!
Green Our Planet is so grateful for the outstanding donation of $14,680 from our Las Vegas Whole Foods Markets on their October 18th 5% Community Giving Day. Several times a year, Whole Foods Market gives back to the local community by donating 5% of its net sales to a nonprofit that aligns with the Whole Foods Market’s core values. Green Our Planet was honored to be chosen for the Las Vegas Whole Foods Markets’ 5% Community Giving Day this quarter.
Whole Foods Market’s donation will go toward the school garden programs at George E. Harris Elementary, Richard J. Rundle Elementary, Robert L. Forbuss Elementary and M.J. Christensen Elementary. As a result, these school gardens will continue to produce fresh fruits and vegetables for their communities, involve parents and neighbors and promote responsibility and skill development among students. The generous gift will provide the four schools with an entire year of Green Our Planet services and support, including a Green Our Planet farmer and coordinator, our experiential STEAM Garden Curriculum and participation in our Chef to School Program and Farmpreneur Program.
We’re so thankful to Whole Foods Market for their support of Green Our Planet over the years. In addition to hosting our student farmers markets, sponsoring our School Garden Conferences and teacher trainings, they’ve also funded Green Our Planet school gardens and become one of our Gold Sponsors. We’re honored to continually partner with an organization that has done so much to bring school gardens to southern Nevada.
Thank you to everyone who shopped at a Las Vegas Whole Foods Market on October 18th–you made this possible! And a special thank you to Jenny Huang, Southern Pacific Community Engagement and Events Marketing Manager for Whole Foods, for supporting us throughout the process.
