hydroponics grow anywhere

Green Our Planet’s hydroponic gardens provide a natural laboratory for students to learn STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), conservation, nutrition, financial literacy, and more in a hands-on, experiential way.

Schools in our hydroponics program receive everything they need to have a successful garden. We provide enough hydroponics systems for 20 classrooms, including a 4’x3’x4′ commercial unit that can grow more than 200 plants at a time.

Green Our Planet also supplies each school with all necessary materials: a seed germinator, nutrient fertilizers, pH and total dissolved solids (TDS) measurement tools and more.

Our small systems will fit in any classroom and take less than 30 minutes to set up. Our mobile commercial system can be rolled into classrooms or kept in a central location such as a cafeteria, science lab or multi-purpose room. Lettuce, chard, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and strawberries are among the many fruits and vegetables that flourish in our systems.

 K-5 STEM Hydroponics Curriculum

Green Our Planet’s K-5 STEM Hydroponics Curriculum is STEMworks-accredited and teaches students the magic of hydroponics while integrating Nevada State and Next Generation Science Standards. Written by a group of CCSD teachers, the curriculum provides lessons on different aspects of hydroponics for every grade level.

Instructional Resources

Each school enrolled in our program receives the Green Our Planet Hydroponic Manual. The manual covers hydroponic operating information, answers frequently asked questions, and links to a variety of helpful resources. Schools also gain access to Green Our Planet’s series of hydroponic how-to videos. These videos lead teachers through the process of hydroponic farming and help teachers troubleshoot the system.

Coordinator Service

Every school enrolled in our Hydroponics Program receives the support of a Green Our Planet Hydroponic Coordinator. The coordinator guides each school through the process of creating a sustainable hydroponics program and trains the teachers and students to set up and maintain their hydroponic gardens.
