Communities Reagan in Fridge

Ten year-old Reagan experiences the power and joy of giving—through harvesting, preparing, labeling, and stocking boxed lunches offered freely to others at her local community center.

When ten year old Raegan harvested lettuce from her family’s Green Our Planet home hydroponics system, she didn’t just make lunch for herself. She made three salads, took them to her community center, and placed them in the fridge. Then, as she was leaving, someone walked in, opened the fridge, and chose one of her salads. Raegan saw it happen—and lit up. That one small moment says so much about what this work is really about.

Through Green Our Planet’s partnership with the Emeril Lagasse Foundation, Green Our Planet is empowering 400 families from Emeril’s Culinary Garden & Teaching Kitchen schools in New Orleans and Baltimore to grow fresh food at home. We provide the hydroponic systems, supplies, training, live workshops, and ongoing coaching — and the program culminates in a joyful Family Cook Night at each school.

Because this is about more than growing food. It’s about growing confidence, healthier habits, generosity, and connection. It’s about helping families discover that fresh food can come from their own kitchen, their own home, and their own hands.

And the movement is growing. Green Our Planet is also partnering with WIC Nevada, the Diabetes Foundation, and the Department of Corrections to bring this same spirit of health, empowerment, and connection to even more families and communities.
