SEED Tank Winner

Students from winning school Bishop John T. Walker School for Boys partnered with local non-profit Food on the Stove to prepare and deliver meals to firefighters—something judge Pranav Jampani of Starwood Hotels described as “heart-driven” and “purpose-led.”

At an extraordinary school in Washington, D.C., students from Bishop John T. Walker School for Boys didn’t just win Green Our Planet’s 2025 SEED Tank—they redefined what it means to lead with purpose.

Their idea, to partner with a local nonprofit to grow and prepare fresh, healthy meals for firefighters, wasn’t about recognition or reward. Their concept was rooted in something even bigger: young people looking beyond themselves and asking how they could serve others.

But they didn’t stop there! After winning the $5,000 SEED Tank grand prize for their pitch, “Lettuce Help”, the students chose to reinvest the funds into their hydroponics program and community, turning one act of innovation into an even greater impact for their community.

That is what happens when we trust young people to solve real problems in the real world.
